Delivering Quality Primary Healthcare to Nigerian Schools and Communities

In Nigeria, millions of children face an invisible barrier to education: poor health. Every day, students drop out or miss school because they lack access to basic healthcare. At Health For Nigeria (HFN), we believe no child should lose their future due to preventable illnesses.

Building a Healthier Future Together

Health For Nigeria (HFN) is a nonprofit organization working to eliminate barriers to education caused by poor health. Established in 2013, HFN has become a leading voice in school health programs, working across six Nigerian states to place professional nurses in schools, create health education programs, and run community outreach initiatives.

Nurse a School Program

Over 70% of Nigerian schools lack access to basic healthcare facilities, leaving children vulnerable to illness and emergencies. Our Nurse-A-School Program changes this by placing qualified nurses in schools that have no medical personnel or sickbays.

Project SafeCare

Project SafeCare is our strategic initiative to equip public schools across Nigeria with fully functional sickbays and health stations, ensuring that students have immediate access to care when they need it most.

Community Health Engagements

Beyond schools, HFN organizes outreach programs offering free screenings for malaria, hypertension, diabetes, and education on critical health topics. Each year, we reach thousands of parents and caregivers, extending the impact beyond the classroom.

From the Founder’s Desk

At Health For Nigeria, our mission is deeply personal. Every day, we witness the challenges children face when healthcare is out of reach. We see bright, eager students forced out of classrooms by illnesses that could have been prevented or treated.

This is why we started HFN: to bridge the gap between education and health. Over the past decade, we’ve worked tirelessly to place nurses in schools, build health awareness, and create safe spaces for care. We’ve seen firsthand how a simple intervention: a nurse’s presence, a health club meeting, a stocked sickbay, can transform lives.

But there’s still more to do. With your support, we can reach more schools, train more nurses, and ensure that no child misses out on learning because of preventable illness.

Join us. Partner with us. Together, we can build a healthier Nigeria — one child at a time.
