Who We Are
About Us – Health For Nigeria (HFN)
Health For Nigeria (HFN) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming child health and education in Nigeria. Since 2013, we have been addressing one of the country’s most pressing but overlooked challenges: the lack of accessible healthcare in schools. Across Nigeria, millions of children miss out on learning every year because of preventable illnesses such as malaria, infections, or untreated minor injuries. We believe that no child should have to choose between being healthy and getting an education.
Through our innovative Nurse-A-School Program, we place qualified nurses in underserved schools to provide on-site healthcare, emergency response, and health education. Complementing this, we run School Health Clubs and Community Health Outreach Programs that empower children, teachers, and parents with the knowledge and resources they need to lead healthier lives.

Our Mission
To deliver sustainable, school-based healthcare programs that reduce absenteeism, prevent disease, and improve the overall health and well-being of Nigerian children.

Our Vision
A Nigeria where every child, regardless of background or location, has access to healthcare and the opportunity to thrive academically and physically

What We Do
School-Based Healthcare
Through the Nurse-A-School Program, we ensure that children have access to professional nurses who handle first aid, basic treatments, and early detection of health issues. This has dramatically reduced absenteeism and improved academic performance.
School Health Clubs
We create engaging health education programs where students learn about hygiene, nutrition, menstrual health, drug abuse prevention, mental well-being, and first aid. These sessions are interactive, inspiring students to take charge of their health and share this knowledge with their families.
Community Health Outreach
Our outreach programs extend beyond schools, offering free medical screenings for malaria, hypertension, and diabetes, along with vital awareness campaigns in communities. This holistic approach strengthens both families and communities.
Our Impact
We have served over 30,000 students across six Nigerian states. In 2024 alone, there were more than 4,900 clinic visits and 13,000 students engaged in health clubs. We have also trained hundreds of teachers on first aid and basic child healthcare.
By combining healthcare and education, we are breaking the cycle of absenteeism and poor health that limits opportunities for many Nigerian children.
Why We Exist
In Nigeria, preventable illnesses account for a significant portion of school absenteeism and dropouts, with many children lacking basic healthcare support within their schools. With statistics showing that 80,000 children under five die annually from malaria, and millions miss school due to treatable illnesses, we are determined to provide sustainable solutions. HFN is bridging the gap between health and education.
